Dr. Jun Royce Flores received his Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology with minor in Psychology at the University of California at Irvine (UCI) and completed his degree with the academic honor and high praise of cum laude. Widely considered to be the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society for excellence in the liberal arts and sciences, Dr. Flores was inducted to The Phi Beta Kappa Society, who’s mission is to induct the most outstanding students of arts and sciences at American colleges and universities. Following these notable distinctions, Dr. Flores went on to attend the distinguished University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry. Recognized for his talent, skill, and judgment while in training, Dr. Flores was invited to sit on the admissions committee for the UCLA School of Dentistry.
Upon completion of his general dentistry training, Dr. Flores continued his advanced training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at UCLA and served as Chief Resident. There, he trained under nationally and internationally renowned faculty such as Henry Takei, DDS., M.S., E. Barrie Kenney, DDS., MS., Fermin Carranza, Dr. ODONT., Thomas Han, DDS., MS., Michael Newman, DDS., and Perry Klokkvold, DDS, MS, FACD. He has performed independent investigative studies, one of which was the assessment of soft and hard tissue healing in the anterior esthetic region after tooth extraction. For this work, he was awarded “Outstanding Research in Implant Dentistry” by the California Society of Periodontists. During his tenure at UCLA, he sat on the board of the Young Clinician’s Committee for the Academy of Osseointegration.
As a practicing Periodontal and Implant Surgeon, Dr. Flores has remained at the forefront of his field as evidenced by his being a Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Flores also holds an academic appointment as a Surgical Instructor and Lecturer for the UCLA School of Dentistry. He has also lectured throughout California and has continually given back to the underserved by providing dental services at organizations such as Give Kids a Smile, Remote Area Medical, and other dental missions.
Like Dr. Huamán, Dr. Flores believes in providing our patients with the most up-to-date and technologically advanced care. Dr. Flores is trained in the following: Perioscope and laser assisted periodontal surgery (LANAP) which treats mild, moderate, and advanced gum disease without the use of incisions or sutures; the Pinhole technique which treats gum tissue recession and deformities avoiding harvesting the palate, and is done without incisions or need for sutures; Periodontal Plastic surgery using a microscope for high precision providing perfect esthetic results; the All-on-4 technique that aims to restore edentulous dentition with a fixed prosthesis in one day. Dr. Flores is certified in both IV and oral conscious sedation.
Dr. Flores strives to assure that his patients are comfortable, educated both on the diagnosis and treatment, and that each individual patient’s choice in treatment is respected at every step of the process. He believes that an attentive ear and a caring word go a long way. As such, Dr. Flores motto has always been “we must never forget the ‘-care’ in ‘healthcare.’”
